Juan Carlos gave me many helpful points during the two days we had a bit of wind. Unfortunately the wind was not cooperating during the week so we only got 4 hours on the water. Would go back in a second.

I am really grateful JC was my instructor! He was very patient, calm, and seemed to have everything under control every time. I felt safe through out my classes and could solely concentrate on building my kitesurfing skills. His expectations of me were realistic, his approach was catered to my needs and he guided the lessons to the best of my learning.

LEK was an excellent place to kitesurf. I particularly liked how friendly and genuine all the instructors and staff were. I felt safe and well taken care of. The staff were really friendly, helpful and accommodating. I will definitely recommend them!

Just a superbly run school, in a fantastic location in Cabarete. Laurel and her team made learning so easy, and provide a safe and fun environment for travelers new to both kiteboarding and the DR. I can't wait to come back for more.

Fue una gran experiencia aprender kite en LEK, el equipo esta en excelente estado y todas las personas que trabajan ahí soy muy atentas y divertidas. JC, fue muy paciente y cuenta con una gran capacidad para explicar las reglas básicas, sus instrucciones son muy claras y concisas. Su actitud me hizo sentir en confianza, ya que siempre pone como prioridad la seguridad el estudiante.

LEK was fantastic! It is definitely the best and most professional school on that beach. Since all the kite schools pretty much charge the same rate you might as well get the IKO certified school with the safest and best instruction:) We are beginners so my only negative is the beach itself.. Super wind makes for very choppy and big shore breaks to deal with. Not ideal for beginners. We would definitely look for a “gentler” learning area next time. The upside is if you can learn there, you could go anywhere and be prepared! Thanks for a great start to our kiteboarding adventure!

I had a fantastic first kiting experience. Although learning the ropes at Cabarete wasn't easy, Juan Carlos and his relaxed vibe really helped. Although I probably managed to mess up everything one can mess up, JC kept his ease and just made fun of my inability. I really enjoyed my time on the water and my lessons with the Kite Club Cabarete. The folks here really know what they're doing and the vibe is just really nice. On top of that, you'll meet plenty of people who are competing on a(n inter)national level, adding to the experience! Juan Carlos, Chicho, thanks again. Hope to be back soon!

Juan Carlos was an excellent teacher! His assistant, however, was not that helpful. He would take off riding and it felt like I had paid for him to be out there enjoying himself instead of attending to the lesson - this was very annoying and disappointing as he was wasting a lot of my paid time.

From the minute you walk into the facility you know it’s going to be a great experience. The reception for our reserved lesson package was seamless and the front desk staff was exceptional with the required forms and introducing us to our instructor. Well done. We felt like we were in good hands as soon as we met our instructor, he was a pleasure from our first introduction and with every lesson with our kites. Professional in the questions he asked about us and our expectations from the course and our individual level of comfort In the water. He also stressed safety and made sure we understood the equipment and all safety features. He was hands on and extremely patient with our first beach kite lessons and made sure we were confident in our control abilities before escalating to water /kite lessons. I appreciated his personal attention to my abilities and his consistent efforts to grow my confidence in handling and understanding wind /kite which made the entire experience a whole lot better once I hit the water with a board and the kite. He had me up and on within the lesson period which was an amazing feeling of accomplishment for me and I grant this feat to his teaching ,knowledge and thank Juan Carlos for his efforts and expertise to make this happen . The entire facility is welcoming, clean and has a family type atmosphere that welcomes anyone that wants to learn to kite. I look forward to additional time on the water and would highly recommend both my instructor Juan Carlos and the Kite club in Cabarete to anyone who has ever watched the kiters on the water and thought “ I would love to do this” , they can make it happen for you too.

I must say that I was a challenge - but I was determined to get up on that board. I was scared to death, and probably wasn't the easiest to teach - but I did it...thanks to my instructor...who, again, was very patient. I am very athletic and really thought it would be faster and easier for me. I recommend the 3 day class, as you have a chance to process it day by day. Well worth the money...and a big thank you to my teachers.
