Holbox ist eine kleine Sandbankinsel vor der Nordküste der Halbinsel Yucatan. Sie ist von wunderschönem, flachem Wasser umgeben, welches vor großen Wellen schützt und uns ideale Unterrichtsbedingungen an unseren beiden Hauptspots bietet. Kite Beach bietet uns Flachwasser in der Lagune und sehr leichte Wellen außerhalb. Punta Mosquito ist ein 30 km langer, unberührter Strand, den du nur mit anderen Kitern und Schildkröten teilen wirst. HKS kennt Holbox und seine Kitespots wie kein anderer. Wir unterrichten in Holbox seit 2005. Wir haben diesen Spot für unsere Schule gewählt, weil die Lernbedingungen hier einfach genial sind. Seichtes Flachwasser, keine Wellen und viel Platz zum Lernen. Unsere Spots sind nicht überfüllt. Wir haben uns auf Privatunterricht spezialisiert. Unsere Priorität ist es, dass du deine Fortschritte in einer sicheren Umgebung in deinem eigenen Tempo genießt, sei es schnell oder langsam. Wir haben unser eigenes Wassertaxi und Rettungs-/Lehrboote, um sicherzustellen, dass wir Sie zu den besten Bedingungen am jeweiligen Tag bringen können.

Jonny Smith and the rest of the Holbox Kite School staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and safety conscious. The communication was excellent. The shop is clean and inviting. Gear by Slingshot and Ride Engine are top notch and what I would consider buying for my own equipment. The spot for learning is beautiful, shallow, flat water with a sandy bottom. I was able to progress in a short time after a long hiatus from kitesurfing. Would definitely recommend and I plan to be back.

Learning to kite with Johnny was an incredible experience. After several attempts elsewhere, I finally achieved my goal of becoming an independent kiter thanks to his patient, structured, and encouraging teaching style. Johnny has a rare ability to combine technical expertise with clear, step-by-step instruction. He always made sure I understood the “why” behind every move, from safety procedures and equipment setup to body dragging, water starts, and riding upwind. His calm presence on the water built my confidence and helped me progress faster than I ever expected. Holbox was the perfect spot to learn — shallow water, steady wind, and a relaxed vibe — but it was really Johnny who made the difference. He’s passionate about kiting, genuinely cares about his students, and knows exactly how to adapt his approach to each learner. I’m now confidently riding on my own, fully independent, and can’t thank him enough. I highly recommend Johnny to anyone serious about learning kitesurfing the right way!

Anna is hands down the best kite instructor I've ever had. She’s incredibly skilled and experienced—she can spot your mistakes from a distance and provides clear, detailed guidance on how to correct them.
