I always thought kitesurfing is a “cool” sport, but never imagined at my age (72) i would practice it, and i ddint even know it was practiced in Saudi Arabia. Until a nephew of mine told me he had a lesson and was able to fly the kite and body drag in a couple of hours. I contacted his instructor Mr. Carl Robertzon, and started my lessons. I was amazed after his clear theoretical instructions and familiarizing me with the gear equipment, i was able to fly the kite comfotably within an hour! To me a that was a surprise. I completed so far 8 hours proceeding cautiosly but comfortably learning all the important basics. I guess it all depends on the coach and his ability to spot ones mistakes and communicating simply and clearly how to fix it. This sport is almost awesome and addicting, and its potential is unlimited. My one advice to everybody is: MUST START IT WITH AN INSTRUCTOR.

After a 2 weeks trips at Phan Rang Kite centre, I have gradually progressed with my skills in upwind ability, as well as reading the wind forecast, also transition skills, thanks to my instructor Carl Robetzon professionals teaching. I have progressed from absolutely no upwind skill, to a very consistent upwind ability, as he teaches me the some cues in upwind skills, lean back and be more responsive one the kite when the wind changes its strength , as well as keeping 80% weight on the back leg, and bent more on the back leg with lean back the shoulder, and when when wind is strong, I cam even allow myself to nearly to lean back and touch my back on the surface of the water, I think that is biggest lesson that I have leant from upwind skill. Also to emphasise the back leg stepping motion when I initiate the water start, and couch myself as a small ball as much as possible to get a comortable water start, and also push the bar out after gaining speed on the kite is also a key note, it is just like riding a bike, once you get it, it will always stick on your mind. Thanks again for Carl help. Hope I can keep progressing and become an " OK" Kiteboarder.

During my stay (march 2020) in Phan Rang kite center I took an advanced private lesson with Carl. I wanted to improve my landings, and of course jump higher. He learned me to steer the kite faster, but the most important thing for me was how to land safely. Because my little jumps (3,4 or 5 meter) I land, but the 6-7-8- meter I can’t. So carl learned me to land more downwind, and steer the kite more downwind. I loved the way he motivates you. Very positive. And with the two way walkie-talkie I got immediately feedback, and I could ask questions during riding.

Carl is a very competent instructor! He adapts easily to the student and though me in no time how to kite surf. Carl does everything in his power to give you a positive experience and knows what to focus on to get you to a higher level in no time, he does this without making any concessions on safety and all the (theoretical) steps that are needed. I would surely recommend Carl to anyone that wants to learn how to kitesurf in a fun, quick, and thorough way.

Carl was very patient and adapted each class to my level and motivation, never compromising safety. All his explanations were very clear and adapted for a beginner like me ;)
