Berny Maginn

As someone who was a little nervous due to previous head injury's, I felt completely and utterly safe and cared for during my time in and out of the water. The information was given clearly, I was constantly checked on in regards to my safety, and the support given was uplifting and motivational. I am eager to spend more time Kiting, and appreciate the experience that I had been given. Thank you for such a fantastic intro into the kitesurfing world!

Berny was a great examiner, I enjoyed his style of teaching. The weather made it a little difficult to conduct lessons however Berny still managed to teach us the required standards well and in a safe manner.

Fully recommended Zoe's and Berny's Airzone Kitesurf School - best place to take ITC course. I had a fantastic course. The content was excellent with lots of new information and Berny’s approach to running the course was informative and professional. Learned so much and had a lot of fun!

Airzone Kitesurf School with Bernie and team are running a unique environment that is a great place to learn. I learned more than I expected out of the course and found it really beneficial as a rider and instructor.

The course was extremely helpful. Bernie always made sure we are not stressed out and helped us with whatever we needed. He explained things in very creative ways and was very patient with us. When I was coming for the course I was really worried and stressed and once I arrived and met everyone I felt like I'm in a right place. I have gained a lot of practice and knowledge in these few days. I will strongly recommend both Bernie and Zoey for anyone that wants to train for an instructor or simply become a better kitesurfer.

The course was overall very good. The trainer and everyone else at the school were very helpful and kind. However, the fact that some students spend 4, 8 or 12weeks at the school previous to the course while others come just for the one-week AITC does unfortunately have an impact in terms teaching dynamics and follow up to individual student's needs.

I Did the Level 1 iko course at the same time as the Assistant instructor course... My assessor passed me as an Assistant instructor but not the Level 1. I think I am competent to teach beginners from knowing nothing right up to getting airs themselves. however I was given 40 hours of shadowing because of a couple misunderstandings between my assessor and I. I dont agree with his decision. His decision was unfair and puts me off even bothering trying to get my ticket sorted. I would possibly recommend them to beginners who want to learn how to kitesurf, but I wouldnt reccommend them to people who can already kitesurf and want to become instructors themselves.

I enjoyed doing my IKO assistant Instructor (and Level 1 Instructor) course at Airzone Kitesurf School NZ. Berny has tons of experience and I enjoyed his teaching and the learning environment. It was the right balance of laid back yet very appropriate structure and sequence for information, observation, and hands on teaching. The camp itself is a great environment to stay in, with excellent facilities and wonderful food. I made new friends and improved my kiting as well as my ability to teach others. I feel ready to move on as an IKO instructor.
