Assistant Trainer
Are you an Instructor Level 3 and have at least 24 years old? You enjoy teaching kiteboarding and are looking for a way to increase your revenue with your passion?
The IKO is looking for the next generation of Assistant Trainers. All Instructors Level 3 can apply to an Assistant Trainer Training Course (ATTC).
Benefits
Prerequisites:
Training Procedure:
Once the IKO Head Office has approved your candidature, the Assistant Trainer candidate must complete at least three ATTCs (Assistant Trainer Training Course) as follows:
ATTC 1 and ATTC 2 with an Examiner
ATTC 3 (or ATTC4 if needed) with a Training Master
ATTC 1 with an Examiner
During ATTC 1, the candidate assists the Examiner during the ATC and prepares each day’s lesson plan together with them.
The objective of this week is to refresh your knowledge, ask the Examiner as many questions as possible regarding tricks, tips, and best practices for running an ATC, and to support the Examiner in managing the group—especially during practical exercises.
The minimum number of candidates required to validate the ATC as an ATTC 1 is four (4).
ATTC 2 with an Examiner
During ATTC 2, the candidate is expected to take a more active role compared to ATTC 1. You will be required to run specific parts, practical and theoretical, of the ATC in order to build confidence as a future Assistant Trainer.
You will coordinate in advance with the Examiner to define which parts of the course you will lead and which parts you still prefer to observe. During breaks and in the evenings, the Examiner will assist you in preparing for the following day’s sessions.
The minimum number of candidates required to validate the ATC as an ATTC 2 is five (5).
ATTC 3 with a Training Master
During ATTC 3, the candidate is required to run the entire ATC independently. You will conduct the full course under the supervision of a Training Master, who will support you daily—before and after lessons—by providing dedicated feedback to help you improve your teaching skills, course preparation, and both practical and theoretical sessions.
The objective of ATTC 3 is to ensure that you are fully capable of running an ATC on your own.
The minimum number of candidates required to validate the ATC as an ATTC 3 is five (5).
If the evaluation is successful and all final requirements are completed, you will be certified as an Assistant Trainer.
If not, you will be required to attend an ATTC 4. Don’t see it as a failure, but as an opportunity.
All ATCs must be conducted strictly according to IKO Standards in order for candidates to be certified.
Timeframe Between Training Stages
The maximum time allowed between two ATTC training stages is one (1) year.
If more than one year passes between training stages, the candidate will be required to repeat the previous training level.
Training Fee
The training fee is USD 700 per ATTC.
